After serving a prison sentence for drug smuggling, 48-year-old Alain reluctantly returns to the home of his mother, Yvette. The forced proximity brings old conflicts and unspoken tensions between mother and son to the surface. Alain discovers that Yvette has terminal brain cancer and has decided to end her life through assisted suicide in Switzerland.
